Pituitary Gland: function and responsibility - Scoliosis.

Pituitary Gland, Scoliosis.

Scoliosis – lateral, concave or convex curvature of the spine.  Scoliosis is a common occurrence in children and adults and is typically dealt with in three ways:

  • Mild curves – exercise
  • Medium curves – (Under 35 degrees) a Milwaukee brace, worn before the body stops growing
  • Severe curves – a metal rod, surgically implanted around the spinal coloum for life, normally implemented when the adolescent stops growing.

The basis of posture is to maintain eye level parallel with the horizon. Our musculoskeletal system will compensate for abnormalities to maintain this basic principle. When a client presents with scoliosis many structural changes have occurred. Shoulders are not parallel, hips misaligned, internal or external rotation of femur and intern the foot.

Liver and Emotional Function

Liver and Emotional Function

The liver has several very important roles in the emotional function of each person. This article will touch on two of them, based on the research of Jean Pierre Barral, D.O.

Firstly, the liver serves as a vehicle to discharge strong emotions. If the motility of the liver is compromised, difficult emotions will be hard to process and the person will feel tired. This can be especially true for women as the liver is the organ that metabolizes hormones, including estrogen. The work load of the liver therefore peaks after ovulation, which can contribute to the emotional difficulties and fatigue associated with PMS.

Example of emotions discharged by the liver are:

  • hot, intense anger of the kind that might cause you to hurt yourself or someone else

  • frustrated feelings that you are not living the life you really want to live

  • difficult relationship with mother

  • depression

Acupuncture

acupuncture, vancouver

Acupuncture is one of the oldest, most commonly used medical procedures in the world. Originating in China more than 2,000 years ago, acupuncture became widely known in the United States in 1971. Traditional Chinese Medicine theorizes that the more than 2,000 acupuncture points on the human body connect with 12 main and 8 secondary pathways, called meridians. Chinese medicine practitioners believe these acupuncture meridians conduct energy, or Qi (pronounced "chee") , between the surface of the body and internal organs.

Liver Cleanse and Detoxification

liver, detox, cleanse

How important is diet? You all remember ‘Supersize Me’ and the shocking or perhaps not so shocking results of eating a fast-food, high fat diet for a month. Spurlock gained almost 25 lb., suffered depression, heart damage and liver damage. Much of the damage occurring long before the 30 days was completed. There are some very easy ways to change our diets and increase the health of our organs.

Drink a glass of warm water with the juice of a 1/2 squeezed lemon first thing in the morning. The lemon will gently stimulate the liver and gall bladder to secrete bile and start the cleansing process. And no, commercially made lemonade is not a good substitute. No sugar, honey, molasses etc.
